About us

100 Years in the Making

The Gramercy invokes the spirit of the post-World War I era in the 1920s. The 1920s is nicknamed both the "Roaring Twenties" and the "Jazz Age". Each refers to this period's changing social norms and daring artistic movements. The era was distinguished by a significant economic boom in the years following the end of World War I, the rejection of old social restrictions, and progressive movements of all kinds including Women's rights, bootlegging and underground social clubs. The dictionary defines Gramercy as "used to express gratitude or surprise". Its origins from Middle English and Anglo-French translate to "great thanks"! We could not think of a better way to extend our appreciation of our guests and the community than having it embedded into our brand. It is our goal to make every guest feel that their time spent with us is valued and never taken for granted.

In response to prohibition. The survivors of the war including the veterans and those who came of age during the fighting are often referred to as the "Lost Generation". The Lost Generation is credited with breaking with the past, experimenting with form and style, embracing a cynical view of human nature and living in an age of excess.

Family History

Since arriving from Ireland in the mid 1800's, The Hunt Family has a long tradition of service. Whether it was defending our country or providing high quality hospitality to the hotel and restaurant industry, we always lived the values of hard work and sacrifice to achieve success. Our family has a strong lineage in New York City and historical connection with The Gramercy Park Hotel in Manhattan. Many family members worked at the hotel including our grandmother and uncles who worked the front desk, our grandfather who managed the property and our great aunt and uncle who owned The Gramercy Park Hotel during the 1940s! Each family member took pride in ensuring a memorable experience for their guests. This tradition of service consistency has made the hotel an iconic spot in the hospitality world, for its ability to put the needs of its guests before all else. We want to pay homage to this great New York City staple and our Family, by bringing its fundamental practice of hospitality and service to the great city of Lakeway.
